FILM MAKING & ACTING TO CAMERA

Delighted to say that in June, 2019 Dramarama placed 1st with a prize of 1,000 euro in the whole of Ireland in the Trend Micro's Whats Your Story? Our students made a video answering this question: "If you had one special power to make online better, what would it be?" With our prize money we have upgraded our camera equipment to make our films even better!!

These classes are for  Acting to Camera. They involve learning the techniques of film making. Both in front of the camera and behind it.  We use a Canon camera, Go Pro, green screen and Final Cut Pro for editing. Great fun and the students love seeing themselves on our own big screen  in our studio. And we even have our own you-tube channel!

Our Kinsale students short film, which they devised, directed and filmed, was chosen for the First Cut Youth Film Festival. They were delighted to see themselves on the cinema screen! Ballygarvan students came 3rd in the Donal Walsh National Film Festival Competition. We all went down on a day trip to collect our trophy.

Many of my film students have been cast in short movies and commercials. Most recently, Ruby Walsh, was cast in The Cork on Ice Commercial, which was shown in cinema's across Ireland.

'Believers", which was shot in West Cork, was entered into Film Festivals across America. My ten year old student, Donal O'Connell, won Best Child Actor in LA Film Awards. Ciara O'Mahony and Jack Field were recently in a CAB commercial for Ford Cars. To top it all, Jack O'Mahony was short listed for Black 47, a feature film, directed by Lance Daly and featuring Hugo Weaving, Jim Broadbent, Stephen Rea. He got down to the final three but was pipped at the post! Three of our children just starred in a short film with two of the actors from Young Offenders.

We will also be going out on location shoots.
